The grooming does take a while but I tend to do it while the tv is on, but, for me the bichon is the best breed ever.

Congratulations- to you and to the lucky furbaby who comes to live in your home.  Sandie, I guess I am also a member of the MBS club.  They are like potato chips, you can't just stop at one.  Will be looking forward to meeting your new addition.

Whooo!  How exciting.  If you are after a rescue please look at bichon frise rescue at  http://www.bichonfriserescue.co.uk/
They may have a bichon in the north east or a one which could be transported up.  Or you could look at the friends of bichons in rescue site where they list some of the bichons that need rehoming around the country. I can't see any in NE at the moment mind. http://www.bichonfriends.co.uk/Dogs%20in%20ResQ.html
Bichons do end up on odd occasions at the Newcastle Cat and Dog centre?
Be aware that if you are buying a puppy there are still some puppies (of all sorts of breeds) being imported from Irish puppy farms and sold as home bred.  They are being brought in by the vanload through Stranraer and then sold on seemingly from a local home breeder.  Health seems to be a major issue.  Really a case of doing your research as you obviously already know and finding the breeder right for you.
Good luck

Pam thanks for the info regarding the pups coming through Stranraer. We will be keeping our eyes and ears peeled until we find another one. My son said I am replacing the kids with dogs

Funny about your son's statement- my daughter declares that I love my dogs more than I love and do for her.  Children are so funny - even when they are grown and have their own children.

We collected a 9 week puppy today and she is just lovely. Her name is yet to be decided but it looks like it will be Mabel if the grandkids have their way.

She has settled really well with the other two and is booked in at the vets in the morning to be checked over and sort out her injections. I had a pretty sleepless night Yawn, but that was to be expected. Thankyou all for the good wishes.

Congratulations on little Mabel arrival.  Yep multiple bichon syndrome is catching.  I now have 12 bichons living at home and another who is in partnership with a friend.  And deposit paid for another one.  How sad is this.  Laugh Hysterical

Liz my hubby would be beside himself if we had as many as you do. They are like any dog in that they can be hard work but you do get so much back from them.
