I would like to thank everyone who has responded to me about Bailey. It is a very difficult time for me, I still can't believe it. I keep thinking that he is here, only to remember he isn't. I have cried for days now. He was such a sweet boy. I can never again watch a dog go through what Bailey went through and to suffer. I had to make the decision to put him to sleep, and I feel so guilty. I appreciate everyone's kind words.

I understand the 'guilty' part.  Whether it's guilty for taking him to the Vet for the final time or keeping him with you solely because you don't want to live without him.   I think most of us when faced with making that terrible decision don't know for sure if we are doing the right thing.   Only YOU know all the circumstances and just remember he is not suffering anymore.   embrace

You made the selfless decision.  Our furkids rely on us to do this, when the time comes.  I've done it a few times; it is NEVER an easy decision.

My vet once told me, "I'd rather have a pet PTS a week too early, than a day too late."  It is our responsibility to prevent their suffering, this is what she was getting at.

I don't know all the details, but perhaps this will apply in the circumstances and will help you.  Again, sending you hugs.

I am so sorry to hear about Bailey and I know how much you must be suffering. You did what you needed to take away Bailey's pain and I hope your happier memories of him give you some peace.  comfort

Oh no!! I can't  believe it, Jill!! I had sent you a couple of pm's and emails trying to find out how you were making out with the injections over the past couple of months, and was really hoping to hear better news. I am so sorry.
Did you conquer the injections? was he still uncooperative? It is such a difficult disease. Ozzie is a different fluff since he was diagnosed  sad, even with his regular injections and diet, he is 5 pounds lighter (that's a lot for a little dog) and his coat is sooo thin, and low energy. I worry about him so much. I hope I never have to make that decision but pray for your strength.  I know you did what was best for your Bailey. He was so lucky to have your love and care for 7 years.  comfort

Jill, my heart really goes out to you.  It must be extra difficult because Bailey was still a young dog and it was so sudden.   crybaby  Bailey was loved and you did everything to make his short life so happy.  Hopefully, the good memories will soon help alleviate the pain.   Hug

I don't know what I would do without everyone here. I can't believe it is almost a week since Bailey left me. I am struggling so much and am still crying over him and will for a long time to come. I was home all day, took care of him all the time, and he needed extra care with the diabetes. He gave me so much love, and he was such a clown. My heart is in a million pieces.

Thanks everyone, it means so much to me.

It is a week today that I had to put Bailey down, it is so difficult to grasp this. I keep waking up at the same times, that I had to let him out and then do the insulin shot. I would let him out around 5am, feed him some food, put him back in his crate and then give him the shot at 7 with a little chicken. I can't believe he is no longer with me.
