Sebaceous cyst

Hi...Bailey was to the vet today, he has one of those sebaceous cysts, but it is infected. We were away for a week, and he was at the kennel, I didn't notice it before we left...the vet put him on an antibiotic for ten days, has anyone's Bichon had this and can I put Neosporin ointment on it also?

Sorry to hear that Bailey has to be on antibiotic. I don't think it would hurt to put Neosporin on it, but the antibiotic would probably be enough.
Give him a little cuddle from Auntie Carol -  I hope it heals up real soon!

The antibiotic is a pill, right?  So that is treating the infection from the inside.

You could put Neosporin on the outside to help with the itch and inflammation.  (I wouldn't mix it if the antibiotic is a topical treatment.  )

I usually just put Bag Balm on, as I have that handy for anything and everything.  But the Neosporin will be fine also.

I have no experience with any cysts, but Neosporin is awesome. It works wonders. Belle has a sratch from her dew claw after it was trimmed, and the Neosporin took care of it and fast too.
I hope Bailey heals fast!

Mr Hary had one of these cysts last year,it was a large one that was infected,he to was on antibiotics for a week.....the vet advised me once it had shrunk,he would do surgery to remove it all,this was carried out ...with no problem,he also told me these wee doggies are prone to these type of cysts.

Hope the wee ones ok.

Max has one on his lower back.  It's about the size of a "pea" and doesn't seem to bother him at all. ...  I was gonna ask the vet about it at his next physical. ... How do you know if it's infected?

Mr Harrys was the size of a pea, then overnite was the size of  an egg,it was also leaking... a cream cheesey yukky stuff.

Having seen them in humans i knew what it was.

I am so sorry to hear that bailey has a bad boo boo. I don't know anything about them, just wanted to send Bailey some hugs. I hope he is better real soon.

Ohhh my!    I guess that would be a BIG indicator that something was wrong!
