Thank goodness  Max hasn't had any problems "knock on  wood"  with itchy  skin .... but I am so grateful  that when/if that time comes  ... I will have this wonderful informative thread to peruse again!!!

Del, Thank you soooo much for the information.  I live near Seattle so I went online and found a closer location of Mud Bay.  I went there and they were so helpful.  I told them about Zoe's itchy skin and hot spots.  I told them about ALL the different foods that I had tried in the past.  They are having me try AdVoderm food and shampoo.  The food has fish oil and the shampoo has Avacado oil in it.  If this food works they want me to start adding a fish oil supplement to it to further help their skin.  I will let you all know how it works!

Update... We have been using the Advoderm for a few weeks now and she is still itchy!  No, absolutely no nasty fleas.  She is still getting a few, very small, itchy spots.  She doesn't lose any hair from them except maybe a tiny bit from scratching, but no bald spots.  We havn't added the extra fish oil yet.  I called Mud Bay again and I can take my leftover (40 lb bag) and trade it for another type of food.  They mentioned a few that I can try, so I think I will take her with me and let them see her.  I have also called the vet and I will be taking her in.

EEEWWW  That's not good!  Poor Princess!  I can't stand it when they are feeling yucky.  It makes me sad to see it. 

Zoe will be seeing the vet, the first part of next week.  I will let you all know what she says.

This thread is great! Poor ole Fonz has gotten rid of the fleas ( well here & there but the tablets do the trick ) Now the poor boy has red raw skin ARGHHHH. I have just smeared him in aloe vera from the info in this thread. What a great site, I love it.

 I had tried the fish oil, the benadryl, and prednisone, and 4 different kinds of kibble, nothing worked.  The one thing that helped Missy stop her icheys is Heska F.A. Granules.  It is dry granules that you sprinkle on her food (amount according to weight of dog).  This is an omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids.  It has really helped.  But took about 2 months of regular use before it worked for good.  She has been on it for about 1 and half years now. The best price to find it is at www.natural-pet.stores.yahoo.net.  I now feed her Eagle Pack Duck kibbles.  She loves it.

Hi there,

We have a bichon, about two year old boy, Snoopy. He is such a happy little guy but he has a terrible itching problem. We have had him on numerous foods, different shampoos, to the vet twice, prednison..... He has had to wear a cone because he has scratched himself so badly that he bled in a number of places. He has been getting really bad again since his last prednison treatment. We can't afford to bring him to the vet again but want to do something. We are thinking to put him on Benadryl but don't know what would be a proper dosage. Can anyone please share some suggestions....We rescued him, but I feel as though he needs to be rescued again.

Thanks for all that info........meo got few bald spots too.....I had to change his dog food.........
