Dogs Behaving Badly? Tell us your stories. Good and bad. Possibly even funny now after you have time to digest what dogs do when dogs are behaving badly. :o

Jag loves to rip apart toilet paper. We started to place it on the vanity in the bathroom, he started jumping and jumping until he could knock the roll to the floor then off he goes to destroy the roll of toilet paper. He got Chicklet into the act as well. Now we have to close the bathroom door.

Chicklet opens cupboard doors and drags the contents out of the cupboards. Sometimes we find her in the cupboard. Chicklet also moves the chairs around the kitchen places them up against the kitchen table and cupboards which allows both dogs to climb up on to the kitchen table and cupboards.

We adopted two Bichon sisters from the rescue people about a year ago. They are now six years old. They have given us so much pleasure, it's beyond belief. We do have a problem that is becoming serious at times. They bark very often at whatever is going on outside. Whenever one of us comes home it actually goes past barking and becomes screeching. If someone pulls into our driveway or knocks on the door they go crazy. We don't know for sure, but we believe they lived in an apartment, where no one was home all day, for their first five years. We have a house with a big fenced yard. If anyone can help with this problem or knows where we might get some help, it would be greatly appreciated. ???

Sadie has just begun to show her true personality. We've had her just over 2 wks.  The other day as I was ironing some work clothes she came up behind me and when I turned and looked she had an orange beard.  She had snuck into the trash, I have 4 boys, and licked out the can of beef a roni.  Little did she know she was caught red or should I say orange handed.  :-[ She looked so innocent. How could I possibly get mad except I was worried that she would get sick.  Then the other day after I had groomed her she went out to the back to potty and soon found a puddle.  She was running at full speed through the muddy water over and over again.  You could actually see her smiles and almost hear her laughter.  She received her first cold hose bath that day, poor baby.
What would we do without our Bichons? :D

:-/Here I go again about my new puppy Gizmo.  He is 6 months old now(I got him at 13 weeks from Small Paws Rescue). This past Wednsday was the big day for Gizmo as he was scheduled to have his first "do".  He was used to being shampooed and blow-dried etc by me but had not received a cut yet......I picked him up at the groomer's and he was beautiful and smelled so good!!! They are soooooo cute aren't they??? ;DAnyway, sometime after dinner he asked for the door to our backyard and since he's such a big boy now ;)he doesn't always need "mommy" to take him out to do his business.(Yard safely fenced in)Gizmo has a fun thing to do outside......He was digging holes in my carpet in the livingroom but now!!!! ;Dwhat fun to dig holes in the lawn and find nice black dirt that you can rub your face in when mommy isn't looking Lips Sealed Lips Sealed :-XOh yeah!  He comes scratching at the screen door all smiles with a black face and feet!!!!Guess he really enjoys baths...I tried so hard not to let him see me laugh as I repeatedly said "bad dog"  "bad  dog"" etc.  No dull moments here no siree :D :D

Gizmo and Sadie sound just like my 11 month old Maxie.  I had bathed him one day and the next day while he was outside doing his business, he found a mud puddle:o.  He walked around in the puddle at first.  Then he began digging in it (he loves to dig - is that a bichon trait?)  Then he ran and splashed in the mud, ran around the yard at warp speed and rested in a sandy area.  All I could do was laugh and watch him have fun.  He must have repeated the same thing at least 5 times before wearing himself out.  Needless to say, he had to be bathed again!! How can anyone get mad at such sweet little angels Smiley!

By the way, I found this site this week (wish I had known about it sooner) - l absolutely love this forum ;D.

Shocked :oHi Maxie's Mom!!!It's me again, Gizmo's mom.....This past Tuesday Gizmo also found a small mud puddle and dug a hole about 6 inches deep. And of course he has to put his head in the hole to see what is in there  ??? Shocked  When he scratched at my screen door to come in I really thought he was another dog!!!Didn't recognize my little Bichon at first, what a sight!!! :D >Sad ;DAfter taking a picture(too cute to resist)he got another bath. I had just gotten home from work and also working out at the gym and was beat and really looking forward to a relaxing dinner....They sure can be a handful, but he keeps me on my toes and that's exercise-right?!! Hi Gizmo's mom!  He sure must have had a lot of fun digging that hole!!! ;D  Unfortunately for Bianca (fortunately for me ???) we don't have a garden so she's yet to hone her digging skills.

Right now, she just does it (digging) on the bed Shocked.  When she first gets on the bed, she starts digging as if trying to make that spot that much more comfortable Roll Eyes  Do any of your Bichons do that too??

Cheers!

Hi Bianca's mommie.  Maxie also digs on our bed all the time.  Our new duvet cover and pillows have so many snags on them that they look like we've had them for years.  Maybe the digging thing is a Bichon trait.  I'm still learning about Bichons - I was introduced to the world of Bichons about 6 months ago.   Smiley

Hi..  I am the proud mummie of Bridget an almost six month old bundle of love, kisses and of course sometimes bad, but funny behavior.  She digs in the bed too!  The first time she did it I thought she had lost her mind!  She is so determined!  Glad to hear she's not the only one.  It always makes me laugh :D

Hi Maxie's Mom & Bridget's Mummie,

That makes 3 of us who has to put up with worn-out looking pillows & bedspread ;D

As I write this, I'm counting the no. of buttons that Bianca has managed to remove from our mattress pad (this despite the mattress pad being covered by a bedsheet!). through "digging" Roll Eyes  Ok, I've got 6 loose buttons here.... wonder how many more she's gonna remove ;D

Hi its Sadies Mom again.  I'm so glad to here that Sadie is not the only one who digs in the bed.  Also loves toilet paper.  She has developed a fetish for cotton.  Q-tips esp.  she'll dig them out of the trash and eat the cotton off of them. Any one else have cotton fetish.

If it's paper (cotton, tissues, paper towels, napkins, mail, magazines, etc.) and within Max's reach - the paper will be shredded in seconds! He's even managed to destroy my cosmetic bag and its contents.  I had to replace my make-up 3 times in the past month.  Before my husband and I leave for work in the morning, we have to do a "visual check" of the house to ensure he doesn't get into anything he shouldn't.  Why is it that even though Max and Marley (our 10-yr. old Schnoodle) have their own toy box full of toys to play with, Max is only interested in what is not his. ???  He is quite the handful Smiley

This isn't really behaving badly, but I thought I would share his antics with you anyway:

Every evening around 10 pm I hear a soft whimper from my bedroom.  He is calling me to let me know its time for bed!!  I'll look in and there he will be flat out on his tummy with his big gorgeous eyes staring at me.  When I go to bed, he shakes with excitement and then wiggles his little bottom against me, squeezing so tight to make sure he stays put while he's sleeping Smiley.  If I stop petting him, he will 'nudge' me with his bottom - no sound, just a nudge and if that doesn't work, he will use his leg.  The audacity of it Roll Eyes

Every morning at 6.30 he will nudge me again to wake me up.  This has been a life saver a couple of times when my alarm didn't go off.  There is no way I could ever be late for work; he seems to know how important it is that I get up.

I believe Maxi has been sent to me from above.  I am so relaxed and settled since he came into my life.  I used to suffer badly from anxiety, but Maxi has put a stop to that.

 >Sad  Today when I returned home from work I walked into the bathroom and there was a white fluffy mess!  My Bichon managed to shredd a full roll of toilet paper!  It was everywhere...I looked at her and said "What did you do???"  She layed down on the floor and put her head down, like man I am in trouble now.  Instead of please don't squeeze the charmin...We say Please don't SHRED the charmin!   Bichons love to shred toilet paper not sure why!

Hello its Sadies Mom;
Its been awhile since I've wrote.  Our whole family is having so much fun with her.  One note on crating.  We had such a hard time crating her and had been doing so at night, but we decided to let her sleep with our 10 year old son or us.  One morning at 6:00 we heard a horrible yelp and found that she had chewed on the electric cords of some antique lamps that we made of fabric and were fuzzy.  She got shocked.  Since then she is crated at night but I don't think she'll ever do that again.  I was sooo scared.  We were very fortunate.
Just like having a 2 year old in the house again.  But she brings us alot of joy.
Love to you all
Later,
Sadies Mom

:-[  A few months ago my daughter was sick and I gave her some chewable tylenol.  I put the cap back on the "Child-Proof " container and put it on my night stand (It was late at night)  The next morning I was vaccuming and saw a white streak (Chloe) fly behind the chair.  I vaccumed a few more minutes and thought ...weird what is she up to?  When I looked behind the chair there she was with the cap chewed off of the tylenol and she was eating them.  I immediatly called our vet, who told me to make her drink as much Hydrogen Peroxide as I could so she would vomit up the tylenol or it would ruin her liver!  I thought how am I ever going to do this?  I filled up a small dish put it on the floor and bottoms up she drank it all!  She vomitted and was fine.  Very Very scary...she can get up on my dresser and night stands...nothing is safe!  Bichon's are very nosy!

Glad to hear Chloe's OK.  They ARE very nosy!!  We had to move our nightstands away from the bed because Max would grab whatever was on them.  Recently, he chewed up my college book.  Sad Luckily it was only the covers and a few of the pages.  He also chewed a little hole in my husband's boots, which he had only worn once.  But I had to blame that on my husband.  He shouldn't leave his boots all over the place!  Wink

Left him alone for a minute he dug  a tunnel.haha
So i had to provide dig place of his own.
They say its a naturel thing for them to do.
So why not let them have it there way some times.
They are little kids trapped in a dogs body?
