http://www.petedge.com/product/Master-Equipment-Small-Pet-Grooming-Table-Blue-Top/53184.uts

I would like to get something with a grooming arm/ lead, but don't want the expense or the room a full sized one takes. But, is this one too small???

Thanks,
Chris

I would say no. It is only 18 inches wide. They have small fold out tables that easily fit into a closet that are reasonably priced and are a much better fit.

Edited because I am so fried I wrote yes when I meant no.

I got a grooming arm and lead that clamps onto any table when I first got Missy.  I still have the arm attached to her "grooming" table but I use it as her towel bar.  Laughing  She is very cooperative and I found that I didn't need to have head and tummy leads to get her to do what I asked.

So any fault with Missy's grooming doesn't lie with the fluff.   whistling

I use the dining table.Abby needs plenty of space as she is too lazy to stand and lies down for 1/2 of it.
Does the turntable lock? I'd worry about it moving  at a bad moment otherwise.

I think it may be too small, and I hadn't thought of it turning when you don't want it to.  There is no weight limit listed for it, which doesn't help.

I don't use a lead.  I got a scrap piece of countertop, which I set across my bathroom sink, and I work on them up there.  They can step off the counter to the vanity top, about an inch.  I close the bathroom door if I work on my escapee, Marlin.   The girls tolerate grooming, yes even Tasha for the most part.  She doesn't try to leave, she just lies down, tucks in tail and all 4 legs, and puts her nose down too.   Laughing

I have an arm and a double loop.....Jake wiggles ALOT. I should have just splurged and got the whole thing.....I'll see if I can post you a link of pic of Jake on mine. http://bichon.ca/forum/index.php/topic,10730.0.html

Thanks so much everyone. I guess when they say 'small', they mean like a toy. Sighs. I like to trim him outside but he will bolt away given the opportunity, so I do need a table with a lead (besdies the fact that he doesn't just sit still for grooming).

Thanks again. I'm glad I checked with you before I bough it.

Chris, thank you for posting this thread and the link for the grooming table.  It is perfect for me!  The moment I saw it, I thought so.  I ordered it and here is a picture of Sassy on the table ready for me to comb her:

And Mattie:

Now, I also have to tell you that Sassy is a very small bichon.  Both of my girls are.  Sassy weighs only 9.5 pounds and Mattie is 10 pounds.  They just fit on that table.  I've combed both of them there since getting it last night and it works for me.  It does go around, but you have to give it a good turn.  It does not spin or move too easily.  I really like it!  To give you perspective on the size of my girls, here is Sassy lying in an armchair on a standard bed pillow.

So, this table works for those of us with the smaller sized bichons.  Any bigger than mine though, and you will need a larger surface.  Thanks again Chris, for finding this for me!  MaryEllen

Oh cool! That's great Smiley I'm thinking again about Darwin. He is right now 9 pounds at 8 1/2 months old. His parents were both 10-11 pounds. Hmmm.... I really like the table even more now that I see your fluffs on it, but if he grows much more, it probably wouldn't work?

Like Sandie, I can't resist saying that Sassy looks as if she is going to bounce on her little pink trampoline.
MaryEllen, I use my kitchen island for grooming Ella too. I have attached an old table tennis net pole to the side and put a hook on it and attached a lead to this. It could be higher but just something reminds her to stay still and now I don't very often have to use it.

The only problem is it doesnt let you use a grooming arm, which Darwin really needs.
