Noah

« on: January 26, 2010, 10:54:43 AM »

I have to get a new harness for Noah as the one that we are currently using cannot be used in the CGC course.  I have found 2 that I think look nice but not sure which I would rather have-

The first is a leather one that is specific to the size of the dog, the nylon one is more adjustable.  The nylon one is thinner but I wonder if it being so thin, it will hurt if the dog pulls.  The leather of course would be nice and smooth but it is larger and could rub under the front legs.
I just found another option

Anyone have any thoughts on these.
I have one of the Puppia ones, but it is hard getting it over Noah's head.  Would rather have a step in type.

Can you not get the Puppia ones in different sizes  confused Lucy has a Pink Dimantee leather one  nodding but the straps are further apart underneath. nodding  I got it at Crufts a couple of years ago  nodding from Pet London I think,   thinking very expensive  Rolled Eyes but really nice.  thumbup

I love Puppia's although Abby doesn't like popping them over her head, but I'm quick so its ok.It would be the 3rd choice for me .I had a strappy harness once but it rubbed.Thats why I like Puppia's.Alison

Does Noah pull whe you walk with him?

Tasha both pulls and is an escape artist!  I would never trust something with velcro for her.  It would be perfect for Sugar and Marlin.  So it is not that I am against that type harness, it is the dog's personality.

I find the thinner ones lead to more matting where the harness rubs.  My dogs are on harness for walks a LOT, and I keep their coats short, so that is about the only place they mat.  Beyond that, I can't help ya!   eyebrows

Tina, I went to the Pet London site but did not see the leather Puppia.  Did not check to see if they sent to USA.  They have some really nice things. It is like the In Company of Dogs site.  They are expensive, but have unique things.

I looked at several local pet shops here today and found one harness that was leather and really soft, but it was pink.  Now I am not opposed to pink, but really wanted something a little more boyish.

Am going to check on the Puppia sizing and see if I can find something like you bought Tina.

Sandie, Noah does not usually  pull when he is walking - but being a friendly  fluff , he will pull if he sees other  dogs.  I really like the thin harness but like you mentioned, I am afraid that it will cause matting, especially since his hair is still long.

thanks for thoughs

Sorry I didn't realise the closure is velcro.i wouldn't be keen on that either unless there is another fastener underneath.Alison
