How big is Cookie? Is he on the big side or on the small side....is he a puppy or an adult? If he is an adult and weighs about 10-15#'s then a medium has been working well for Jake.....but just like humans, the manufacturer makes a difference in the size. Measure him from neck to tail, then around the chest and neck and take those measurements with you shopping. Jake's legs are little so he only wears a small to an extra small(depends on maker too) in boots. If Cookie is still growing you might want to go up a little in size so he can wear it through the season or you can get it to fit and have an excuse to go shopping again later wink1

I agree with Tina & Annie nodding

We generally get Medium for their clothes; Marsh is about 10 lbs and Buster is about 16 lbs.  Of course they fit differently on each of them, but smalls are too small and they would swim in larges.

If you get boots, go with smalls or x-smalls, depending on the maker, and avoid the cute designer shoes- they fall right off.  Most shoes fall off anyways, but the ones that stay on the best are a bit taller with a velcro strap around the ankle.

Make sure you come back here with kewlpics of your new wardrobe!  original

My crew all wear medium.

You measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail, along the back.  If you are in a store, you can just measure them to get the right size.  If buying on line, they usually give the length.

So unless you have a puppy or a Marshmallow fluff (one of those over 22 pounds!) usually a medium works fine.  The largest fluff I know (from on line friend, not in person ) is a 37 pound boy, he is HUGE, and not at all fat, lol.

I can't tell you what size, I made my outfits to fit Halo and Ozzy.

I can give you advise though, when it comes to boys make sure the jacket doesn't rub his happy stick.  It can cause irritation, or he may pee on the jacket.

Sandie's given you the "standard" gauge used to choose.  It's pretty acurate, the only exception I've found is weight/breadth.  The more "solid" the dog is will affect how the fit will be....

My girl too is a Medium/14!

You can get decent prices from www.PetEdge.com just an FYI

Good Luck!!

My Sassy is 9 pounds and a small fits her.  Mattie is 10.5 pounds and some smalls fit her and some mediums.  Hope that helps.  MaryEllen

It would vary with the brand and size of dogs. Most onoine ordering has measurements included for the item.Or try and find a pet shop that allows dogs in and try it on him.Alison
