Bo has the same harness as Bella-it was actually bought for Lucy but they are a neater fit than the other style of Puppia harness and it was bit tight for her. She also has the older style one that was Sophies  original
Bo wears a large and she was 7.2kgs when spayed but may be slightly more now, i like how they are a snug fit-no way she could slip out it. Sophies old one like Bluebells is a medium so it shows the difference in size with the different styles

Jake wears a medium Puppia and a medium in everything else I have tried on him.

I will say this.......the longer his hair is the wider his chest is.....so make sure you can adjust the chest area of your harness if you like your bichon to have longer hair all over and in the chest area. Medium adjustable works well for us.....Jake weighs 13 pounds today nodding

Ella's new Puppia harness just like the one that Kerry got for Bella in a size medium arrived today and ummm I think it is a bit small for her. I found a medium in another style was fine so Kate is very correct in saying that different styles are different sizes. Ella is lot bigger than Bella 6.7 kilos, so wish I had been more careful in ordering it.  Think I might try to exchange it for a bigger size  Hmmm

I hope this helps original

Lily is 4kg/8.8lbs and she wears the same one as Azra, size small. It fits her perfectly and she finds it very comfortable to wear. It really helps because Lily tends to pull on the lead when she's excited to be outside, so a regular collar hurts the skin around her neck. The puppia harness is great!

A wee update on Ella's Puppia harness which is the same as shown in Bella pics. I exchanged the medium for a large and it is perfect. Different styles have different fits so it pays to check the measurements given.  thumbup

Mine have no issues with being dressed. They're both quite used to me doing al sorts of "strange" things to them.

I have not tried other styles of this harness, though a look back at the photos on my desktop show me that Schnoppy's new harness has the extra adjuster strap? Maybe Ken can weigh in for us. I only use these for the seatbelt (not for walking) so I don't plan to buy more soon. I have seen other companies' versions of the soft harness, and some are more adjustable then others. I figured I'd post this up with the picture as a sort of reference so you could see how it fits.

Claire, are you sure it was  small? The small fits Azra quite snuggly. I would think Maddy would find herself between the small and the medium (Schnoppy wears a medium).

I think the Picture of Bluebell and Azra are just adorable.   nodding

I am looking at the new harness right now and as Danielle says it does have some type of mid-adjustment strap.  Honestly, I never really looked that closely at these things relying on recommendations from our favorite dog store in Massachusetts.  http://www.gooddoggallery.com/index.htm

The new harness is not a Puppia, but a http://clothingyourpet.com/catalog/ipuppyone-dog-vests.html    It seems to work quite well, as did the Puppia. Schnoppy wears a medium in both and has it on all whenever he goes out.  It's really necessary as Der Perfesser is a tuggy-fella.   rock   When he sits in the car we attach the harness to the shoulder seat belt strap using a double-ender gated clip. Seems to work pretty well.

I posted a topic about harnesses recently and had several different styles.  I love the knot one but it cannot be used as a car restraint so would have to either use this  and then change for car rides- too much trouble.  Noah hates his Puppia becasue of going over the head and it does not hit his neck properly.  I did find a step in harness that is made of leather and velcros on the top but the leash buckle goes through both layers after is is velcroed so it stays closed.

I found the most adorable harness and could just see my boy in this, but I am afraid of just velcro closings not being safe.
.

I did order this other one  I think that it will work with his car seat.

Thenk you Ms. Alison.  My mom and dad like me to be buckled in because the people in New York City and highway 95 going north to Massachusetts are sometimes nutsk.    hyper

Ms. Alison my dad says he doesn't trustsk Velcro either. He says when it's wet, or when the loops are not clogged Velcro is pretty good.  Sometimes he uses this type of Velcro when it's really bad...but than you cannot really sew it on anything.  Miffff. http://www.uline.com/BL_6418/3M-Dual-Lock   This why my dad uses a metal to metal connection on my harnesk.

Wow, that velcro is really expensive.  I am sure that the harnesses do not have that type of velcro in them.  I too want Noah safe when he is in the car or walking.  I just got him a new car seat.  I know this is a  topic but I will post pictures of him in his new seat.  He got in and snuggled in as opposed to his other one that he wanted to try to get out and sit on the console.
This is a picture of the seat.

It looks a lot larger in the picture showing 2 dogs in it.  Noah stretched out and took up the whole seat.  Don't know that I would want 2 dogs in the seat.

Hi Andrea,

Yes. That industrial Velcro is crazy expensive and totally impractical for a collar.  As per dog safety in a car - I have always wondered about that?   God forbid a collision should occur...how does a dog either in a crate, dedicated front-loading doggie seat, or harness do?   No

I use a double-ender gated clip attached to the "puppia-style" harness/seatbelt with Schnoppy placed on my lap, or Leslie's lap when we go traveling. It's definitely inconvenient but we feel that should we get into an accident it's the best option for Schnoppy as a frontal air bag would deploy cushioning frontal movement, and with us holding him act as a shield from a side impact augmented by the deployment of a side air  curtain.  All that being said - I have no data to quantify my opinion.    No

A secure crate in the back of the car would probably be quite safe, but doesn't work for Schnoppy as he has a propensity for upchucking, as well as crying when out of direct contact with us.   I'll have to do some research.

Cheers,

Ken - The Human

Ken,
Dogs are not allowed to sit in the drivers lap here  in NC.  Don't know how well it is enforced, but the police have told me that it is a misdeameanor to drive with a dog in your lap.

I have Noah in the front seat and the air bags are turned off on his side.  I, like you, know that it would probably be safer if he was in a crate on the floor in  the back seat, but he cries his little head off and almost makes himself sick.  Now who's fault is this??  whistling Should have started him out in a crate in the car,but started him out with a car seat.

That's a good rule. When we are driving alone Schnoppy is always on the passenger side seat. Having him on the driver's side would be as bad as a trucker/bus driver texting.  Also, did not know you could de-activate the front air bag.

Cheers
