A bichon owner has written a children's book!  The World of Oliver, by Candyce Corcoran
It is illustrated.

It tells the story of a bichon named Oliver who goes to the vet because he doesn't feel well.  Tests show he has hypothryroid issues and needs medicine for life.  Once he starts the medicine, he feels great!  There is a link with photos of pages in the book.  The customer quotes are helpful too.

Here is the link:

Bonus:  all profits go to animal rescue
She will sign the book for you, if you ask!
