Hi all, This sure looks like a great site and lots of great looking dogs you all have. My name is Luana and I am Charlie's mom. I was first introduced to Bichons in January of 1994 when one showed up on our doorstep in a snowstorm.? He went to the kennel for a week and when no one claimed him, we adopted him.? He had obviously been on his own for a while as he was filthy and extremely thin, and under a year old.? We named him Scruffy and found out that he was a bichon but with a cropped tail.? His tail was about an inch long and we kept it trimmed to a little powder puff.? It wagged so fast it looked like it vibrated? ? He was the greatest little dog, always aiming to please and loved his cuddles. Unfortunately we lost him to cushings disease last April at the age of 12.? Both my husband, Cliff and I were devastated? ? About 3 months after we lost him a friend asked me to stop by her house as she had something to show me.? We went for a walk and coming around the corner toward us was a bichon mix.? She had called her neighbor who was looking for a home for this dog (a rescue that came up to NH from RI).? We are not sure what his mix is (maybe Westie) but his ears stick out and his name was Yoda.? While not as cute as a full bichon, he was cute in his own way and it was love at first sight.? We renamed him Charlie as we didn't like Yoda for a name and felt Charlie fit him much better. We had some health problems at first and found out he had allergies.? Once we got away from food with those allergens and taught him that HE was NOT the alpha of the house we are getting along fabulously.? He, too, is quite the cuddler, loves to go for walks and rides. I have attached pictures of both dogs.

?Luana! ?I'm sorry to hear about the loss of Scruffy. ?He sure was a beautiful dog. ?I had a poodle that had Cushings, so I know how that goes. ? It sounds like you and your husband are a Godsend for lost/rescued dogs! ? ?Charlie is just adorable and I'm sure he has an excellent home with you. ?My bichon, Gunner, also has food allergies and we've worked through that, but I haven't yet taught him that he is not the boss. ?He pretty much has me wrapped around his little paw. There is a load of helpful information here and a lot of wonderful people to share stories with. ?Enjoy! By the way...My name is Jen and I live to serve my 18 month old bichon, Gunner.

Thank you all for such a warm welcome. You sure sound like a fun bunch. I'm hoping to get outside more with Charlie if it ever stops raining and get some more pics (he was the second picture on my intro).
